SUMMARY: FLORA & FAUNA

Finding nice shots of flora and fauna this week was fun challenge when you consider: 1) I’m in Rexburg, ID, 2) It is the dead of winter, 3) I have classes during most of the daylight hours. Between the snow and the rich, foggy inversion layers, I was able to get some nice shots this week featuring trees that were dormant, but still beautiful. And for my fauna, I was blessed to find a very photogenic squirrel who allowed me to zoom in and take some nice shots for almost 2 minutes straight. I bought the Olympus Stylus-9000 specifically last year because it has a 10x optical zoom. It was worth its weight in gold this week! The tweaks using Photoshop adjustment layers were very minor and helped the shots gain stronger focal points.

  1. Nice work…I really like your pictures of the squirrel and the red frozen branches with the temple in the background. I think you can work with the levels a bit to make these pictures pop more. If you haven’t already started, I think you’re really going to like working in camera raw…I’ve been able to get so much more vibrant photos with it.
